Description
Why quilt art? Two reasons, mostly... For many years, I have harbored a desire to quilt... but I can't sew worth beans. Instead, I am creating a new artwork series of painted quilts. If you can't sew... paint! ;-)
My second reason is a bit more poignant and extremely personal. I have undertaken a mission to make a difference in this world by helping to eradicate cancer. I have lost loved ones to this horrid disease, and have loved ones currently fighting the battle. When I think of quilts, I think not only of the vast number of steps involved in creating the finished piece, but as well of the love that went into joining each individual piece together to form a whole. I also think of warmth... which can come from love, as well.
I realized that each stitch in a quilt can be symbolic of a step in the fight against cancer, and to help take those steps, I will be donating a percentage of my proceeds from each sale of these quilt paintings to one or more cancer-fighting charities. Thank you for your assistance in helping me help eradicate cancer!
